Designed and built in 1992 by architect Mart van Schijndel, this residence – known as the Van Schijndel House – represents a remarkable piece of cultural heritage. Located in the charming historic center of Utrecht, just a stone’s throw from the Dom, the Utrecht-based architect designed the house for his own use.
Light, space, and innovation were central to the design. In 1995, the house was awarded the Rietveld Prize.

The entrance to this exceptional home is on the traffic-free Pieterskerkhof and is accessed via a secured inner courtyard with a private (covered) parking space. Behind the front door, an impressive living space unfolds with an approximate ceiling height of six meters and two patios, providing constant natural light and a strong connection between indoor and outdoor living. The sculptural staircase forms the heart of the house and leads to the mezzanine on the first floor, overlooking the living space. Here you will find the primary bedroom and a second bedroom or workspace, both with direct access to the bathroom.
