138 m2 living
2 bedrooms
Intermediate floor
Prinsengracht 29-1
1015 DK Amsterdam
Unique, architect-designed loft apartment of approx. 138 m2 with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, centrally located on the Prinsengracht with a great view of the Noordermarkt.
The apartment is located in a former school building, which is still reflected in several authentic features, such as the original common hallway, the high ceilings (over 3 meters) in the apartment, and the large windows at the front, which cover the entire length – from ceiling to floor.
The monumental windows in the back of the apartment are made of cast iron, of which some parts can be opened in different ways.
The entrance hall of the apartment on the 1st floor is completely made of bamboo with an integrated coat rack. A large storage room and guest toilet as well as a bathroom are located here. The living room, study and kitchen flow into each other from the northwest at the front and southeast at the rear of this floor, so there is optimal light entry during the day. The window by the fireplace in the study – facing southwest – provides additional light in the center of the room. The orange, built-in sofa glows up when the sun comes in, in the early afternoon.
On the canal side, six tilt (pivot) windows offer views of the Noordermarkt and the striking Noorderkerk. You can enjoy a beautiful sunset there.
The kitchen and both bedrooms are located at the rear. The luxury kitchen of the brand Schiffini with a Belgian stone worktop, and white and bamboo cabinets, is equipped with Siemens appliances, including a 5-burner stove, oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer.
The loggia adjacent to the kitchen and master bedroom with en-suite bathroom offers sunshine all morning until approximately 2:30 pm. The kitchen doors can both be opened. The kitchen then forms one space with the loggia. The bamboo bench on the loggia is illuminated by LED lights that are tucked away.
The gardens are not built up on this part of the canal, so they offer lots of greenery, trees and an oasis of peace.
The second bedroom is five steps down, next to the kitchen. A sink is built into a cabinet with sliding door here. With the large sliding door in the living room and the revolving door between the kitchen and study, smaller spaces can be created.
Architect Dick van Gameren has designed an interior in this apartment by means of two large cupboard units (one finished in bamboo with white inside and the second one exactly the other way around), which offer a lot of storage space and above all, an interior where light and spaciousness are central.
